Hello,
I have been asked to tutor maths online, to a year 10 dyslexic student, and would appreciate your advice. I have a few strategies but would love to know what has worked well for you.
Thank you.

My Year 10 dyslexic student benefits from going through the topics she is studying at school so she feels more confident. She finds visual explanations easier to understand rather than just the abstract. Once she has the foundations from any topic sorted, we move onto word problems, which is the area she finds incredibly hard. I mix up the word problems so she has to work out which maths she needs rather than knowing it is the topic we have just covered. During lockdown, I introduced the topic she was studying and then she did the work set from school after as before this, she was often lost.
