As this year draws to a close, I thought it may be a good idea to reflect on any positives that have come out of the pandemic. Has online teaching or home schooling been a good thing for some of our learners? Have there been some positives for us as educators- maybe that we have had time to do some extra CPD or just had more time with our family? Just thought we could end on a collective positive note !

I tutored my very dyslexic son over the lockdown period focusing on areas of his EHCP and dyslexia assessment recommendations. He recently had another assessment by the dyslexia specialist and his reading and spelling standardised scores have moved from <69 to 85ss. It just goes to show that when support is given in the right way, it can make a huge difference. He also felt so much more relaxed at home. He didn't feel the pressure to try to maintain his concentration and perform like he does at school. It showed me that I can do a good job and it works but also what a difference 1:1 can have.

That's fantastic news Becky. I replied in the facebook group and said how much I appreciated the amount of CPD and online webinars which have been available online. I've heard lots of really eminent people and good teachers who I would not normally get the chance to hear.

It is good hear that some positives have come out of this- I think we will emerge into a better world. We will certainly be saving time on travel and face to face meetings !
